Visit our country parks or relax by the lakes at Dare Valley, Garwnant or Barry Sidings. Wander around the Victorian town parks in Pontypridd and Aberdare. Lose yourself in the beauty of the dramatic mountain ranges or become mesmerised by the waterfalls such as Pen Pych near Blaenrhondda.

If you want to get close to nature, Rhondda Cynon Taf is home to some rare and wonderful plants and creatures such as green woodpeckers, sparrow hawks, kingfishers and brown trout living in streams and lakes, the meadows, ancient oak woodland.

Dare Valley Country Park

Impressive views, lakes and streams, mature upland woodlands and a network of waymarked footpaths are all to be found at this delightful country park just outside Aberdare town centre.

The hotel accommodation situated within the country park caters for the needs of recreational visitors and educational groups and is WTB 2 star graded. Also on offer are caravan and camping facilities, which are WTB 3 star graded.

How to find Dare Valley Country Park:

Signed on the B4275 in Trecynon/Aberdare.

Alternative: Once you are in Aberdare - Town Centre, the A 4233 (Monk Street), turn right to Highland Street and follow the signs to the Caravan Park.

Barry Sidings Countryside Park

Just 10 minutes away from the busy centre of Pontypridd, Barry Sidings is the perfect place to relax or enjoy walking and cycling – there are free cycling sessions for all ages and abilities each Tuesday and Thursday.
